Cart not working? Clogged, blinking, burnt and leaking fixes
Most cart problems are a cold or clogged cart, a flat or badly connected battery, or too much heat. Tap your symptom for the fixes.

What's your cart doing?
Tap the problem. Try the fixes in order.
It won't hit / feels clogged
- Warm it up. Thick oil sets in the cold - hold the cart in your hand for a minute, or use your battery's preheat setting if it has one.
- Take a couple of gentle draws without pressing the button (or with the battery off) to pull oil back into the chamber, then try again.
- Check the mouthpiece for a plug of oil and clear it carefully from the outside only.
- Store it upright from now on, mouthpiece up, somewhere room temperature.
The battery is blinking
- Charge it. Blinking is most often a low battery.
- Unscrew the cart, wipe the threads and the centre contact on both the cart and the battery with a dry cotton swab, and screw it back on gently - snug, not tight.
- If it blinks the moment you press the button, the connection is usually shorted or over-tightened. Back the cart off a quarter turn.
- Blink patterns mean different things on different batteries, so check the battery's own instructions or bring it to the counter.
It tastes burnt
- Turn the voltage down. Most burnt hits are simply too much heat.
- Take shorter, gentler draws and give the cart a few seconds between puffs.
- Look at the oil level. A cart that is nearly empty can scorch the wick - it may just be finished.
- If it tastes burnt from the first puff on a full cart, stop using it and talk to us at the counter.
It's leaking or gurgling
- Wipe the base and the battery threads dry before reconnecting.
- Draw more gently. Hard pulls flood the chamber and cause the gurgle.
- Keep it upright and out of heat - a hot car or a back pocket thins the oil and pushes it out.
- With the battery off, blow gently back through the mouthpiece to clear oil sitting in the air path.
It won't screw on or connect
- Check it is a 510-thread cart and battery. Pods and all-in-ones only fit their own hardware.
- Line it up straight and turn slowly - cross-threading is the usual reason it will not catch.
- If your battery uses a magnetic adapter, screw the adapter onto the cart first, then click it in.
- Still stuck? Bring both to the counter and we will look at them with you.
Most carts that stop working are cold and clogged, connected badly to the battery, or run too hot. Warm the cart, wipe the contacts, screw it on gently and turn the voltage down — that fixes most problems. Use the troubleshooter above for your exact symptom.
How to unclog a weed cart
Oil thickens in the cold and can plug the airway. Warm the cart in your hand or with the battery’s preheat setting, then take a couple of gentle draws without firing the battery to pull the oil back. Store it upright afterwards.
Why is my cart blinking?
Usually the battery is low, or the connection between cart and battery is dirty, loose or screwed on too tight. Charge it, wipe both contacts with a dry cotton swab, and reconnect it snug but not tight. Blink patterns differ between battery brands, so the battery’s own instructions are the final word.
Why does my cart taste burnt?
Too much heat, draws that are too long, or a cart that is nearly empty. Lower the voltage, take shorter puffs, and check the oil level. A full cart that tastes burnt from the first puff should not be used — bring it to the counter.
Why is my cart leaking?
Heat and hard draws are the usual causes. Keep carts upright and out of hot cars and pockets, wipe the threads dry, and draw gently.
